Helen Williams
Metadata Manager
LSE, UK

Helen has worked at LSE Library for 11 years, first as Assistant Librarian for Bibliographic Services, and since 2014 as the Metadata Manager, where her team have responsibility for print and ebook metadata as well as Institutional Repository metadata.  Over the years her role has evolved from traditional cataloguing, with a particular focus on cataloguing standards and authority control, to a more strategic focus on metadata management to support discovery.  Current work includes a HEIF funded project to improve the visibility of LSE blog content, and migration of data from the Library's Institutional Repository to a new Current Research Information System.

Helen completed her MA in Library and Information Studies at UCL in 2002 and spent 3 years dealing with research enquiries at the Institute of Directors before moving to LSE and chartering in 2005.  From 2009-2016 she was on the committee of CILIP's Cataloguing and Indexing Group.
