News from London’s Taxonomy Boot Camp

Boot Camp Awards - Sharing ideas and best practice in any field is the best way to move forward. That's why we launched Taxonomy Boot Camp's Awards and why - this year in particular - we seek to showcase innovative taxonomy implementation. Winners of the 2019 awards were:

Taxonomy Practitioner of the Year - Ed Vald, Metadata and Knowledge Manager, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (UK). How a complex, broken taxonomy of 1500 terms was streamlined into a taxonomy of one hundred terms. The taxonomy was thoroughly documented with scope notes; search was improved through synonyms and configuration of Solr search; and governance and metadata auditing were implemented.

Taxonomy Success of the Year - Demand Architecture from RS Components. The project created a taxonomy which was focused on customer language (rather than supplier jargon), and delivered measurable changes to Google positioning for over 100 categories. The work will be the foundation for future initiatives.

2021 Announcement - The pace of the continuing global health crisis makes it difficult for us to determine how many of our international delegates and speakers will be able to travel to London this October to join us for Taxonomy Boot Camp London. For this reason, we have made the decision to postpone the conference until March 2021. The new dates for Taxonomy Boot Camp London will be 2 & 3 March 2021 (workshops 1 March) and the conference will move to a new venue, the Copthorne Tara Hotel in London's Kensington. www.taxonomybootcamp.com/London/2021

We have already begun to build a conference programme from the many submissions we have received from so many of you this year, and we’d like to thank all those who sent in such interesting stories and ideas. We’ll be in touch shortly to tell you more about the programme, and we look forward to continuing our relationship in 2021. Please save the dates.
