Picture of Andreas VlachidisDr Andreas Vlachidis is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Information Science at the Department of Information Studies, University College London (UCL). He is a Co-I and the technical lead of the Sloane Lab project, leading the project's aims on data unification, aggregation, and knowledge base development. He has a long-term experience working in various research roles for medium and large-scale cultural heritage European and UK projects. He has led the data modelling requirements of the EU Horizon 2020 CrossCult, delivering the semantic modelling components of museum collections and associated narratives for enabling reflection and re-use of digital cultural heritage in context-aware crosscuts of the European history. He is a visiting professor for the University of South Wales and an external affiliated researcher of Ariadne Plus contributing to the multilingual application of Natural Language Processing in archaeological grey literature. His research is interdisciplinary and draws from Information Science, Humanities and Computer Science. His main research interests are in Information Extraction, Semantic Data Modelling and Metadata and he is interested in the application of Natural Language Processing and Semantic Technologies for advancing information integration, FAIR data use and interoperability.
