"I spent several years as a researcher at Rostock University, focusing on developing methods to quantitatively assess knowledge graphs using metrics that capture quality-related aspects. Over time, I realized that many quality issues arise right at the beginning. Building graphs—and the essential components such as pipelines, ontologies, and taxonomies—is a complex, multifaceted process. Too often, we observed people using the wrong tools at the wrong stage, especially during the initial setup, combined with a lack of understanding of vocabularies and their implications. This frequently leads to frustration and, in the worst cases, abandonment of the entire effort.
This insight inspired me to found neonto. Our mission is to equip people with a solid understanding of the fundamentals and nuances of RDF-based graphs while providing the right tools to start effectively. The Semantic Web community has already given us an incredible toolbox: SKOS for taxonomy creation, SHACL for quality validation, and RML for data ingestion. There’s no need for proprietary solutions—just the right guidance and approach."
